Evidence at the scene suggested that the large SUV failed to negotiate the curve and drove straight off the right side of the pavement.  It immediately clipped a mailbox then drove in a straight line for approximately 80 feet, ran over a chain link fence, entered the cemetery property, ran over several headstones and grave markers and slammed it’s driver’s side into the large tree.  The SUV bounced off the tree and came to final rest a few feet from the tree.  The distance traveled from the edge of the pavement where the SUV left the roadway to the tree is approximately 90 yards.

Several people in and around the cemetery and a couple from across the highway ran over and assisted the injured driver until relieved by 911 authorities.

Morning Star Fire & Rescue Troops arrived quickly.  They assisted with accessing the patient and medical care.  They also popped the hood and made the vehicle safe for the wrecker company to deal with.

LifeNet dispatched an Ambulance Crew to the scene.  They transported the injured driver to the hospital by ambulance.

Traffic flow was not interrupted.
