Suicidal Vehicle Pursuit..Troopers PIT, Taze; Arrest Follows Standoff – GARLAND COUNTY

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

This is the situation that took place on Highway 70 East near Crossgate Church this morning.  The highway was closed for a while during all of this.

Pursuit, Standoff, Arrest Of Suicidal Person

On Monday October 29, 2018 at approximately 0300 hours, the Garland County Communication Center received a call of a man threatening suicide on Crystal Hill Road.   

Garland County Deputy Devyn Helms responded to the call and arrived on scene at approximately 0310.  Upon arrival, the actor, who was identified as Brandon Oswalt   2/26/1995, was not on scene.

At approximately 0725 hours, the Garland County Communication Center received a call of a suspicious vehicle located on the intersection of Highway 128 and Highway 70.  Garland County Deputy Joey Pate arrived on scene at approximately 0727 and the actor was identified as Brandon Oswalt.  As Deputy Pate approached the vehicle, Oswalt began to flee and led deputies on a brief pursuit outbound on East Grand Avenue.

Arkansas State Police was called in to assist in the pursuit and used a pit maneuver for the actor’s personal safety.  After a brief standoff, a Taser was deployed and Oswalt was transported by life net to the hospital for evaluation.
