Hot Springs Police responded to the International House of Pancakes on Central Avenue around 4AM yesterday morning when a fight broke out among the diners inside the restaurant.
Witnesses described a scenario where belligerents began fighting in the restaurant using eating utensils as weapons. One person allegedly introduced a hammer into the situation. At least 2 people were injured and required medical care.
LifeNet dispatched at least 2 ambulance crews to the restaurant. At least 1 of those people were transported by ambulance to the hospital.
A witness at the scene said that one of the injured fighters was allegedly an arson suspect connected to a vehicle fire on Pinewood Street earlier that night, but I could not confirm that.
Half of the people fighting exited the restaurant, allegedly got into a silver SUV and headed south on Central Avenue. Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Units were already in the area of the Hot Springs Mall on other business when they got the description of the vehicle that departed IHOP. They stopped the SUV at EZ Mart at Central Avenue/Higdon Ferry Road. After a short investigation, it was determined that this was not the SUV that HSPD was looking for.
Any possible criminal charges/arrests are unknown to me.
