Piney Fire & Rescue Troops were called out for a residential structure fire last week in the 100 block of Leola Street.
Responders arrived quickly and found flames coming from the residence. It was not immediately clear to responders whether the house was occupied at the time or not. A witness at the scene told me that as many as 4 people could still be inside the house.
Piney Fire Chief Scott Miser replied to inquiry, in a text to Arkansas 911 News, that the residence was in fact not occupied at the time of the fire. He also said that the cause of the fire has not been determined and that the Garland County Sheriff’s CID Investigators were looking into the matter.
At Least 2 PFD Engines, a Tanker and approximately 15 Firefighters responded to the scene.
The Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol assisted as necessary.
LifeNet was dispatched to the scene for standby duty. They were seen attending to a firefighter for what appeared to be heat/exhaustion related issues.
Shore Acres Road from Thornton Ferry Road to Leola Street was closed for at least 2.5 hours.
