All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
HOT SPRINGS – Arkansas State Trooper Z. Whitney was on patrol in the area of Albert Pike at the Bypass when a silver Mazda Miata caught his attention for some reason. Tip. Whitney attempted to stop the Miata, but the driver allegedly fled from the trooper down Weston Road.
The pursuit came out on Airport Road and continued westbound until it reached the Marion Anderson Intersection. Trp. Whitney performed the PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) on the Miata causing it to come to an uncontrolled stop on the curb at the bottom of Wacaster Hill.
ASP Trooper Tankersly along with Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Sergeant Kellar and his associates were quick to arrive and assist.
The suspect was immediately arrested and 2 wrecker trucks were ordered to the scene.
The suspect, Allen Michael Switzer, 28, of Couchwood Road in Garland County, was arrested. Troopers quickly discovered that Mr. Switzer is wanted out of Pulaski and Garland Counties.
A “loaded” syringe was allegedly located and identified as being in possession of Mr. Switzer.
Arkansas State Police Sergeant Steed was off duty at the time of the chase. He responded to the scene and supervised the process. Sgt. Steed was happy to report that no one was injured during this event.
Holcomb’s Transport & Recovery removed the trooper car from the scene and Pete Hill’s Wrecker took charge of and removed the suspect vehicle from the scene.
Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 45 min.
Mr. Switzer is charged with DWI, Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia x3, Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Felony Fleeing, Criminal Mischief and Failure To Appear with a bond amount totaling $16,000 and a hold order for Pulaski County.
