All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Detective Threadgill reports that HSPD Special Investigations Detectives assisted Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Little Rock Office and Investigators with the 18th East Judicial Drug Task Force with executing a search warrant in the 300 block of Lookout Point on March 18, 2021.
Detectives watched Parolee Michael Steven Benedict, 41, of Lookout Point in Garland County, leave his residence and turn onto Highway 7. Arkansas State Troopers stopped Mr. Benedict for speeding. Detectives made contact with Mr. Benedict, advised him they had a search warrant for his residence and asked him to follow them back to his house while they execute the warrant. He agreed to go back.
During the search, officers found 4 bags of meth (approximately 93 grams) and a set of digital scales in a downstairs air duct. They also found a glass pipe on the coffee table, a safe containing an undisclosed amount of money, a homemade pipe with meth (approximately 8 grams) in the ceiling and a fake monster can with a screw on lid along with multiple tight sealing containers with dirt on them (the report notes that they appeared to have been buried at some point).
Parolee Benedict is not the owner of the house.
Parolee Benedict was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance With Purpose To Deliver, Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia x2 and Unauthorized Use Of Another Person’s Property To Facilitate A Crime with bond set at $22,500.
