Hot Springs Police Officers Guzman and Gates report that they were dispatched to the 500 block of Quapaw Street to investigate an assault that had just taken place. Dispatch advised the officers that a person at the scene had been slapped in the face by a person known to him as “Shane”.
Officers Guzman and Gates arrived at the scene and saw a female and a male, later identified as Michael Shane Duchac, 40 of Quapaw Street in Hot Springs, fighting in front of Mr. Duchac’s Residence.
Officers approached the 2 belligerents and Mr. Duchac ran into his residence and locked himself inside. The female that was tangled up with Mr. Duchac told officers that he hit her on the side of the neck causing her to fall down. He then stomped her in the area of her face.
Officers made contact with the caller. He said that Mr. Duchac slapped him across the face just prior to the fight. Both victims want to press charges. No injury was visible on either person.
Officers checked Mr. Duchac through the police computer. The check revealed that there were 2 valid arrest warrants out on him from an alleged previous felony case. CLICK HERE to see info on that call.
Officers made multiple attempts to convince him to come out and surrender. He came out on the porch once, quickly, to retrieve a dog. Then, ran back into the residence. A tazer was deployed at him when he came out, but that attempt was not successful. Officers kept trying to get him to come out. He finally did and was arrested without further incident.
Mr. Duchac was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Harassment x2, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest with bond set at $8,000 (combined between all charges on both calls. CLICK HERE to see the previous call).
