Alleged: Standoff..HSPD SWAT Call Out..Lake Hamilton Drive; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officer Samuels reports that information was obtained on May 4, 2021, around 2PM, that put Travis Wayne Smith, 30, of Trumble Road in Waldron, inside a unit at The Peaks Apartment Complex on Lake Hamilton Drive.  Mr. Smith may have been armed and possibly made homicidal and suicidal threats.  He also had several outstanding warrants, from several different counties that needed to be served.  There were at least 2 felony charges among these warrants.

Travis Wayne Smith, 30, of Trumble Road in Waldron – Allegedly wanted by several counties..refused to cooperate with police until the SWAT Team arrived.

Officers arrived at the apartment unit and attempted to make contact with the suspect.  The suspect did not cooperate. this went on for a few hours until the HSPD SWAT Team was activated and reported for staging at the Hot Springs Mall.

The SWAT Officers grouped up, loaded into their armored tactical vehicle and proceeded to the scene.

They weren’t on scene long before they got Mr. Smith on the phone and came to a surrender plan.  Mr. Smith finally walked out the way they wanted him to, followed the directions for that process and was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.

Mr. Smith is being held on outstanding arrest warrants for Logan, Sebastian, Yell and Scott Counties.  At least 1 of these warrants charges Felony Terroristic Threatening.  No info on the other charges and no info on possible charges stemming from this episode.  Holds on him have been placed by these counties.
