Alleged: Man Gives Homeless Man A Stolen Gold Bar On The Street; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officer Davis reports that he was dispatched to a pawn shop July 13, 2021, in reference to a man that was attempting to sell a stolen, half ounce gold bar with a serial number on it.

Officers arrived, met with the people involved and arrested James Leroy Johnson, 54, homeless in Hot Springs.

James Leroy Johnson, 54, homeless in Hot Springs – Allegedly was given an $1,100 gold bar by a man for unknown reason.

The owner of the gold bar was on scene.  He said that this gold bar was stolen from his (another pawn shop across town) shop the day before.  The gold is valued at $1,100.

Officers Mirandized Mr. Johnson.  They quizzed him about the gold bar.  He told them that a man gave it to him at the corner of Woodlawn Avenue and Central Avenue just prior to him entering the store.

Mr. Johnson was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.  He is charged with Felony Theft By Receiving with bond set at $2,500.
