Alleged: Man Arrested With Stolen Gun; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

Posted by Arkansas 911 News Chief Editor Paul Maddox

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officer First Class Gates reports that officers with his department took the complaint of a stolen firearm from a lady on June 13, 2021.

The stolen firearm was a JA Industries JA 380 ($169).  Its was stolen from a vehicle that was parked on Trivista Street Left.

Detectives entered the stolen firearm’s pertinents into the police computer.

The remainder of the police report is a little fuzzy in terms of what I look for in order to complete the story.

So, we jump to: July 15, 2021, where I have reason to believe that Officer Stone obtains an arrest warrant for John Wesley Colbert, 25, of Malvern Avenue in Hot Springs.  Then, on July 16, 2021, Mr. Colbert is arrested and is  allegedly found to be in possession of this stolen pistol during a traffic stop and taken to jail.

John Wesley Colbert, 25, of Malvern Avenue in Hot Springs – Allegedly in possession of a stolen pistol during a traffic stop.

OFC Gates met with Mr. Colbert on July 16, 2021, at the Garland County Detention Center, where he served the Felony Theft By Receiving arrest warrant on Mr. Colbert.  Mr. Colbert is charged with Felony Theft By Receiving with bond set at $2,500.  Several other charges were listed on the docket in relation to the traffic stop, but I do not have the details for that.
