Alleged: HSPD K-9 “Bear” Gets A Mouthful Of Fleeing Parolee Sex Offender; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police K-9 Officer J. Smith reports that he was on patrol October 12, 2021, around 11AM, in the area of Cleo’s Furniture on Albert Pike Road when he found a person he knew to be Parolee Lyndon Allen Elder, 47, of Baxter Street in Hot Springs, walking across the highway near Lacy Street.  Off. Smith knew the parolee to be wanted by the court and in absconder status with the Arkansas Parole Board.  Off. Smith turned around and set out to make contact with the parolee.

Off. Smith maneuvered around near him, identified himself and ordered the parolee not to run.  Parolee Elder took off like Usain Bolt going for the gold.  Off. Smith liberated “Bear” from the confines of his mobile kennel and the 2 gave chase. “Bear” caught up to Parolee Elder and they had a very focused and fast paced conversation about fleeing from K-9 police down Albert Pike Road.

Parolee Elder was arrested and LifeNet Medics were called to the scene for a dog bite(s).  The parolee was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Once released from the hospital, Parolee Elder was transported to there Garland County Detention Center for processing.  He is charged with Fleeing with bond set at $500 and the arrest warrant charging Failure to Comply With Registration And Reporting Requirements (convicted sex offender reporting requirements) was served.  A parole hold has been placed.
