Alleged: DWI Arrest Yields Over 26 Grams Of Cocaine & 87 Pills; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in account.

Hot Springs Police Officer First Class Nuñez reports that he was dispatched to Metha Court May 20, 2021, around 1PM, to assist officers that were already engaged in conducting a DWI investigation.

Witnesses told police that the grey Nissan Maxima suspect vehicle was driving on the sidewalk, struck curbs, backed into a fence and took several attempts at lining up squarely into a parking spot.  The vehicle stopped at Taco Bell where the driver, later identified as Tommy Earl Avance, 36, of Hobson Avenue in Hot Springs, went to sleep.  The caller knocked on the suspect’s window and he woke up and drove off.  Police found the Nissan at a nearby hotel parking lot.

The roadside Standardized Field Sobriety Testing was conducted and Mr. Avance was subsequently arrested and searched.  Officers located $1,260.00 in Mr. Avance’s pocket.  He was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.

A vehicle inventory was conducted, in accordance with HSPD Vehicle Tow Policy prior to towing the Nissan.  During the inventory, officers located 2 baggies containing approximately 27 grams of cocaine and a baggie containing 87 Alprazolam pills.  18th East Judicial Drug Task Force Investigators arrived and assumed the case.

Mr. Avance is charged with Felony Possession Of Cocaine With Intent To Deliver, Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance With Intent To Deliver, DWI #2 (Drugs), Driving On Suspended Driver’s License and No Liability Insurance with bond set at $10,000.
