All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies Hampton and Fox report that they were dispatched to the corner of Sunshine Road at Bonanza Trail last night to investigate a suspicious car parked on Bonanza there.
The deputies arrived and made contact with the unresponsive driver. They shook her and she woke up. The driver, Dessie Romaine Davis, 34, of Oakgrove Road in Garland County, appeared very lethargic when she spoke and was very hard to understand. She had bloodshot watery eyes and appeared to be very confused.
Her pertinents were checked through the police computer. The check revealed that she had local outstanding arrest warrants that needed to be served.
Deputies had to ask several times for her to turn the engine off. She was slow to exit the car and used the vehicle to maintain her balance, once out of the car.
Deputies asked if there were any illegal drugs in her car. She replied “I think there is a little in my bag”. They searched her bag and found approximately 4.9 grams of meth (Ice).
LifeNet was ordered to the scene. They met with and medically cleared Ms. Davis for booking. Ms. Davis was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
At the booking room, Ms. Davis provided a breath sample registering .000% BAC. GCSO Corporal Cogburn (Drug Recognition Expert certified) arrived at the jail. He conducted a series of special observations that left him with the impression that Ms. Davis was under the influence of a stimulant and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Ms. Davis is charged with DWI #3 and Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance with bond set at $4,500. At least 3 arrest warrants were served, her bond on a previous case has been revoked and she is ordered to have the alcohol monitor in any vehicle she is driving.
