Hot Springs Police Detectives report that officers with their department responded to a shooting that had just occurred in the 300 Block of Cones Road on April 14, 2021 around 9PM.
Officers arrived at the scene and found Cam’Ron Vallequese Coger, 16 of Hot Springs, laying in a driveway with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The gunshot victim showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness told police that he heard what he thought was gunfire and looked outside. He saw 3 black males running towards Malvern Avenue and heard more gunfire. Moments later, 1 of the males (the shooting victim) ran back to the driveway and collapsed. The witness was not able to identify the males.
Around noon the next day, Tyrese Darnell Davis, 19, of McCafferty Street in Hot Springs, came to the HSPD Detective Office in reference to this case. He was Mirandized and interviewed. Mr. Davis told detectives that he was at a residence in the 300 Block of Cones Road and got into an altercation with the deceased. He said Mr. Coger stood up and a gun that he had in his possession fell to the ground. Mr. Davis said that he picked up the gun and fled on foot. Mr. Coger chased him on foot yelling. Mr. Davis said that he fired the gun in the direction of Mr. Coger. He says that he did not aim the gun when firing, but believed that at least 1 round struck him. Mr. Davis said that Mr. Coger turned and ran back towards the house they came from, where he collapsed.
Mr. Davis was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Manslaughter and bond was set at $50,000.
