Alleged: Burglary At Gas Station..Suspect’s 2nd Of The Night; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officer Gibson reports that he and other officers with his department were dispatched to a gas station on East Grand Avenue last month around 2AM for the call of a burglary in progress.  A witness told 911 dispatchers that he saw a man exit the store through the shattered, front glass door with beer.  The suspect fled on foot to Pleasant Street.  Officers went to both locations.

Officers arrived at the store quickly.  They began the investigation at the scene.  The other officers that went to Pleasant Street found a man fitting the description of the burglary suspect and they made contact with him.  Trevonne Dionte Witherspoon, 26, of Garden Street in Hot Springs, was seen throwing 2 cans of beer into the grass as officers approached.  The officers searched Mr. Witherspoon and found 11 packs of unopened L&M cigarettes.

Trevonne Dionte Witherspoon, 26, of Garden Street in Hot Springs – allegedly broke into a gas station and stole beer and cigarettes following his breaking into a fried chicken restaurant earlier in the evening.

The total value of the stolen items is $67.96 and the shattered door will take approximately $500 to replace. The owner of the store arrived and confirmed that the beer and cigarettes were taken from his inventory.

Mr. Witherspoon was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.  He is charged with Felony Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Theft Of Property with bond initially set at $5,500.  Mr. Witherspoon was also charged in a second burglary this same night, approximately 1 block away; CLICK HERE for that story.
