Garland County Sheriff’s Dispatchers took a call yesterday afternoon reporting that a woman was sitting at the picnic table in front of Sonic Drive-In waving a pistol around with other people present.
Several Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Units were nearby and they all put it into high gear for the Sonic Drive-In on Highway 70West at North Dana Road. The first unit that I saw when I arrived was Arkansas State Police Trooper Margis. He had a male at gunpoint and the male was absolutely not cooperating with the trooper. Deputies emerged from behind the restaurant with the female that fled the picnic table as the officers began to arrive. After several moments, the uncooperative male finally laid on the ground as ordered and was handcuffed by GCSO Deputy Tatum.
A total of 3 people were handcuffed and a pistol was located among these 2 adult males and what turned out to be a 16 year old female.
1 of the adult males was arrested on an outstanding warrant – he was wanted by the court. He was the 1 initially refusing to cooperate with the trooper. The other adult male was determined to not be involved with the gun. He was set free after about 10 minutes of being detained. He cooperated the whole time – no problem.
The juvenile female was transported to the Garland County Juvenile Detention Center and could face charges including Aggravated Assault. A witness at the scene explained to me that the 16 year old female allegedly had the pistol loaded, chambered, cocked and held up to the wanted males head.
No injuries were reported that I am aware of.
