VIDEOS: HSPD K-9 Officer Shot On Bath House Row..Suspect Shot By Police – HOT SPRINGS

Hot Springs Police were dispatched to the area of Bath House row today around noon for the report of a man with a gun walking around.

HSPD Officers arrived on scene, located the man, took positions and engaged him.  The suspect allegedly fired his gun striking HSPD K-9 Officer Jonathon Smith.  The subject was shot and taken out of the fight by police.

Hot Springs Police Officer Jonathon Smith – shot today (non-life threatening injury) on Bath House Row while confronting a suspicious person armed with a shotgun.

The suspect was transported by ambulance to the hospital.  His condition is not known.

No other details have been released by police.

KTHV11 has posted, onto their Facebook Page, surveillance video from moments before the shots were fired.  That video allegedly shows the suspect manipulating the gun as if preparing it for action.  Watch that video here:

The Garland County Sheriff’s Department has assumed the case and they are being assisted by the Arkansas State Police.
