When they arrived, officers observed a loud disturbance where a female was allegedly screaming profane language and grabbing a male by his arms in the breezeway of the property.  Cpl. Zaner asked Diedre Atkinson to let go of the man and step away from him.  She allegedly refused to step away from the man.  The officer took a hold of Ms. Atinson’s arm in an attempt to guide her away from the man.  Ms. Atkinson allegedly pulled her arm away and yelled “don’t touch me, bitch”.  Cpl. Zaner grabbed Ms. Atkinson’s arm again and ordered her to come away from the man.

Atkinson allegedly punched the officer in the face and then grabbed the officer by the hair and the fight was on.  Officer Rushing stepped in and Atkinson was handcuffed and arrested.  Cpl. Zaner had visible injuries that included bruises and a cut.

After the battle royale in the breezeway, officers made contact with the other half of the domestic disturbance.  That victim advised that she is the daughter of the suspect.  She had allowed her to stay with her at that location for the past few days.  Just before the officers arrived in the breezeway an argument had broken out between the 2.  During which, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair and struck her once in the head with a closed fist.  Injury to the victim was visible.

Ms. Atkinson was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Domestic Battery 3rd Degree and 2nd Degree Battery (felony).
