Hot Springs 911 Dispatchers took the call from a young person tonight wanting to report a house fire on Alpine Street.  The young caller said that a tree had just fallen and hit the house.  That’s about the time he saw the fire.

Hot Springs Police Officer Stockwell was close by and immediately responded to that house.  When Off. Stockwell pulled up, he saw smoke coming from the area of the downed tree (or very large tree limb, possibly).  He updated the dispatchers and they passed that info to the Hot Springs Fire Trucks that were already en route.

The house was evacuated and a witness at the scene told me that the child’s father was fighting the fire with a garden hose…trying to control the situation until his firefighting back-up arrived.

Damage to the house was visible.  The extent of any fire damage is unknown to me.

HSFD dispatched at least 2 Engines, a Rescue Truck and the Shift Commander to handle the situation.

Traffic flow was blocked for at least an hour.

No injuries were reported.
