Hot Springs Police Corporal Franklin investigated a single vehicle, head-on crash between a truck and a tree this morning at the Intersection of Malvern Avenue and Grand Avenue.

Evidence at the scene suggested that the truck was probably westbound on Grand Avenue when it exited the left side of the pavement, entered the median and struck a huge magnolia tree head-on.

The force of the collision split the trunk of the tree approximately 8 feet from the ground.  The remainder of the tree fell onto the westbound lanes of East Grand Avenue blocking the entire road.

The truck’s airbag(s) deployed as a result of the crash.

Hot Springs Fire & Rescue Troops responded quickly and assisted as required.

LifeNet dispatched an Ambulance Crew to the scene.  They met with the patient(s), but it is not clear to me whether they transported anyone to the hospital.

An Arkansas Department of Transportation Troop arrived quickly and assisted as necessary.

Traffic flow was interrupted for at least an hour.
