Garland County Sheriff;’s Patrol Sergeant Kellar was driving on West Glazypeau Road early this morning he found thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit U.S. $100 and $20 bills in the middle of the road.
Sgt. Kellar was traveling west behind a vehicle when he saw the car drive over and disturb a lot of paper items in the roadway. He thought the paper looked consistent with money. He slowed down and shined his flashlight on the litter. The paper items that flew into the air in the wake of the car were inspected. A good majority (if not all) of the bills had the same serial number as well as other flaws in the printing and construction of the funny money.
Sgt. Kellar ordered other deputies to the scene quickly to assist with gathering the bills by hand. The money gathering operation took several minutes. The bills were in the street, in yards, on the roadside, in a fence, in the bushes, etc. And every bill was a piece of evidence. Traffic had to be stopped for a short period so the officers could gather up all the bills.
Mountain Pine Marshall Hampton hurried to the scene to assist.
