A guest at a local corporate chain hotel reported to Hot Springs Police that $900 had been inside her purse which had been kept in her locked hotel room. HSPD Detective Rines assumed the case and obtained video pertaining to the mystery surrounding what happened to the money.
According to the police report, the hotel’s surveillance video shows that the man went into the laundry room just prior to entering the victim’s hotel room. The hotel manager says that a hotel master key card (which provides access to the entire hotel) was taken by the man when he went into the laundry room. The man stayed inside the victim’s room approximately 5 minutes before leaving.
Det. Rines took still pictures from the video and had them loaded onto the HSPD social media page, requesting the public’s assistance with identifying him. The public responded overwhelmingly. They identified the suspect as Cecil Lamar Stone, 56 of McCaskill.
Det. Rine promptly swore out an arrest warrant for Mr. Stone. On 4/25/2018, Mr. Stone was arrested in Miller County and extradited back to Garland County. Mr. Stone is charged with Felony Residential Burglary and Misdemeanor Theft Of Property with a bond amount of $6,000.
