All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police investigated a shooting death early this morning in the 400 Block of Broadway Avenue.

Witnesses at the scene say that a man was shot “on the street” near the Boot Scooters Bar around 1AM Sunday Morning.  When I arrived, HSPD and the Garland County Duty Coroner were investigating a silver Infiniti sedan parked against the curb where at least 1 body was located.

HSPD blocked Broadway Avenue from the south end of the feed store at that location to the Orange Street Intersection.  Boot Scooters remained open for business during the investigation and did not seem to be involved in the incident.  However, witnesses reported seeing bouncer staff from the bar running toward the scene and assisting their patrons to safety that were in the parking lot at the time the shots were fired.

HSPD Detective Sergeants Freeman and Burfeind said that they were not ready to release any information when I spoke with them at the crime scene.

The shooter reportedly fled from the scene on foot and, to my knowledge, has not been located as of 5:30AM.
