Hot Springs Police Detective Branstetter reports the following:
On 02/15/19, William Herbert Dawson II ( a level 3 sex offender) came to the Hot Springs Police Department to verify the necessary information in order to be in compliance with the registration and reporting requirements of the Sex Offender Registration Act of 1997.
On 02/15/19 Dawson completed that verification process and signed his paperwork, thereby agreeing to return to the Hot Springs Police Department, in person no later than 07/12/19 to again verify his information.
As of 07/19/19, Dawson has not returned or contacted the Hot Springs Police Department to update his information which is (7 days) past the stipulated date. HSPD Detective Scott #130 and I, Detective Branstetter #109, went to Dawson’s last known address at 4708 Central Avenue (Vagabond Motel #15) and spoke with the Vagabond Manager in reference to a verification of residence for Dawson. The manager confirmed that Dawson had not stayed at the motel since 03/22/2019 in which Dawson only has three days to report a change in residency.
A warrant of arrest was obtained for Mr. Dawson and entered into the police computer.
On 08/08/19 HSPD Officer Chris Chapin responded to the 500 block of Jerome Street in reference to a male and female knocking on doors. Upon contact with the male it was learned that William Dawson had an active warrant through the HSPD.
Mr. Dawson was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Fail To Comply With Registration And Reporting Requirements and Possession Of A Controlled Substance with a bond amount totaling $3,500.
