All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Arkansas State Police, the Garland County Sheriff’s Department and the Hot Springs Police Department conducted several safety check points around the county.
The operation saw several check points throughout the are all being conducted a the same time at the same time. I stopped by 2 of the events. The 2 I caught were the 100 Block of Golf Links Road and Whittington Avenue at Dryden Pottery. Other locations included 7th Street at Wheatley and Thornton Ferry Road near West Pine and they checked every vehicle that came their way including 18-wheelers and school buses.
The Sheriff sent a paddy wagon (van) to collect people that were arrested at these check points.
Several warnings were handed out. A few tickets were issued, some drug items were discovered, some warrants were served and a few cars got towed.
Some hot items that driver’s should be aware of include: wearing seat belts properly/proper child restraints are required by law, sign the back of your vehicle registration card and keep it and your insurance card current and easy to grab from the driver’s seat, make sure you have the correct papers/license plate for the vehicle you are in if you own 2 or more vehicles, make sure trailer lights are hooked up, working and keep the trailer registration just as handy as the other paperwork, prescription drugs are to be in prescription bottles and in the possession of the patient who’s name appears on the bottle, drinking/drugging while driving with a child in the vehicle may land you a child endangerment charge.
It is the responsibility of law enforcement to keep people safe on the highway and they are doing just that.
