A witness at the scene told Troopers that he was at the area of impact when the crash occurred.  He stated that the sedan was westbound when the eastbound station wagon attempted a left turn in front of the sedan at the western most driveway to that shopping center.

Evidence at the scene showed front end damage to the sedan and passenger side damage to the station wagon – which tends to support the statement made by the witness.  The sedan came to final rest approximately 50 yards west of the area of impact.  The station wagon rolled onto it’s side and remained at the area of impact, coming to final rest on the driver’s side.

The Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol arrived very quickly, gathered witnesses, shut down the highway and made room for the arriving rescuers.

Piney Fire Troops arrived quickly and went to work bracing the car to prevent it from rolling over again.  They then cut out the windshield, cut pillars and rolled the roof back in order to access the patient.

LifeNet dispatched 2 Ambulance Crews and the EMS Supervisor for a reported total of 5 patients.  At least 1 person was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Ernie’s Wrecker Service took charge of and removed at least 1 of the vehicles from the scene.

Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 45 minutes including the highway being closed for approximately 40 minutes.
