On December 2 around 10:15am, Officer Ward of the Hot Springs Police Department responded to 615 W Grand Avenue in reference to a probationer in possession of a controlled substance. PPO Blevins of Arkansas Community Corrections searched a probationer’s black backpack containing methamphetamine.

Blevins stated that around 10:00am he called Elisabeth Goderstad, 45, of Congo Road in Benton, back to his office for her probation visit. Active offenders cannot bring a bag into the office without it being searched and Goderstad had a backpack on her person.

Blevins found a black eye glass container with methamphetamine inside of it and a green glass pipe. Blevins arrested Goderstad and called the Hot Springs Police Department. Ward took possession of the backpack and handcuffed Goderstad.

At the detention center Goderstad stated that she borrowed the backpack from a job site. She said she currently lives at a job site and was in a rush to leave home that morning, so she grabbed her things and threw them in the backpack. She also stated she had never used the bag before and didn’t know who it belonged to.

Goderstad stated that she used methamphetamine two days ago. The backpack contained 1.2 grams of methamphetamine.

Goderstad is charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 2 grams.
