Alleged Prospect Avenue Shooter Arrested

On October 24th, 2020 at approximately 10:05 a.m., Hot Springs Police Department officers responded to 333 Prospect Ave., Apt. #4 in reference to a shooting. Officers located Justin Ryan Watson, 37, of Royal, AR, suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a potentially life threatening injury. At this time, Watson remains in critical condition.

Tathan Devontay Smith, 19, of Hot Springs – charged with shooting a person on Prospect Avenue.

During the course of the investigation, Tathan Devontay Smith, 19, of Hot Springs, AR, was developed as a suspect. A warrant was subsequently issued for Battery in the 1st Degree. On 10/24/20 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Smith was arrested pursuant to the warrant and was transported to the Garland County Detention Center.
