On Aug.22, the sheriff’s department responded to the scene of a shooting at 509 Lakeland Drive Lot 10. Humphries was found shot and was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Through the course of the investigation, investigators were able to gather information that resulted in Capital Murder warrants for Tyler McKisick and Gerrard Wells, both 19.
On Oct. 3, sheriff’s department investigators, along with assistance from the Hot Springs Police Department were able to apprehend Wells in the 700 block of Park Avenue without incident.
Later the same day, an investigator with the sheriff’s departments Street Crimes unit was able to locate a vehicle in which McKisick was a passenger and set up surveillance.
Once the vehicle became mobile, a traffic stop was attempted. The vehicle refused to stop resulting in a vehicle chase. The vehicle turned down a dead end street, and the suspects fled on foot.
