DWI Arrest For Driver That Ran Over Pedestrians
On May 13th, 2019 at 5:28pm, officers with the Hot Springs Police Department responded to 601 Higdon Ferry in reference to an injury accident involving several pedestrians. Upon arrival, officers located five injured people, including a 1-year old child. Contact was made with the driver of the car Louise Young (72) of Hot Springs. Young advised that she was pulling into a parking space when she pressed the gas pedal, instead of the brakes and struck the pedestrians.
Young showed signs of being intoxicated and admitted to drinking. Officers gave Young field sobriety tests, which she failed. A blood draw was completed on Young and she was charged with one count of DWI 1st. Additional charges of Battery are pending the blood results.
Two of the victims Ruth Harris (60) and the juvenile male (1) were airlifted to Little Rock for further treatment. Harris is listed in critical condition and the juvenile is listed in serious condition.
