Press Release – HOT SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT (Corporal Joey Williams)
On Monday, October 8, 2018 at 3:51pm, officers with the Hot Springs Police Department responded to 635 East Grand Tire Express for a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located two white males suffering from gunshot wounds. At the same time that officers were responding to Tire Express, the suspect Demarion Banks (25) of Hot Springs, pulled into the front parking lot of the Police Department.
During the course of the investigation and witness statements, it was determined that Banks became involved in a physical altercation with the two victims, for an unknown reason. During the fight, Banks pulled a firearm and shot both victims. He then began to point the gun at several bystanders and then shot at a subject that was not involved in the disturbance. That subject returned fire at Banks, who then fled the scene and drove to the Police Department.
The two victims are not being identified at this time pending notifications to the family. They are both at a local hospital in critical condition.
Demarion Banks is charged with 2 counts of Battery 1st Degree and 5 counts of Aggravated Assault. He is currently being held at the Garland County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
