Press Release – GARLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (Deputy Courtney Kizer)
Investigators with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help with information regarding suspects involved in an arson that took place at 110 Technology Place (Elite Paint and Body) on November 2, 2019, at 3:30am.
On November 2, 2019, at approximately 3:30am deputies with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Piney Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 110 Technology Place (Elite Paint and Body), located off Mid America Blvd. Upon arrival, the deputies observed that the structure was unoccupied and three vehicles in the parking lot, as well as the body shop, were engulfed. Piney Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. Investigators with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police and Arkansas Tobacco Firearms investigated the scene where it was determined that the fire was due to arson. Surveillance videos were gathered from the body shop as well as surrounding businesses.
Reviews of the videos showed that at approximately 2:28am a small dark SUV (possibly a Chevy Equinox) drive onto Technology Place and stop. Two subjects then exited the back of the vehicle and the vehicle drove off. The two subjects then approached a side window of the body shop carrying what appeared to be a gas can. One subject broke the window out, poured the gasoline into the building and set fire to the area. The subjects then ran off and the SUV drove by and picked them up.
