Press Release – HOT SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT (Corporal Kirk Zaner)
On November 8, 2017, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Hot Springs Police responded to a bank robbery at Citizen’s Bank, located at 150 Airport Road.
Upon arrival, officers learned a black male entered the bank and approached a bank teller. The suspect placed a black drawstring bag on the counter, stated he had a gun and demanded money be placed into his bag. The teller gave the suspect a disclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the bank. The suspect was described as wearing a black ball cap, sunglasses, ski mask, and a blue shirt.
HSPD patrol officers and detectives set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspect. The suspect was located within minutes behind 1609 Albert Pike and was identified as Henry Smith, age 66 of Hot Springs. Henry Smith was found in possession of the black drawstring bag and money stolen from Citizen’s Bank. Smith was arrested and transported to HSPD where he admitted to robbing the bank.
Henry Smith was transported to the Garland County Detention Center and booked in for aggravated robbery and theft of property over $1000.00. Smith is being held at GCDC with no bond.
