Press Release – GARLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’s DEPARTMENT (Deputy Courtney Kizer)

Click It or Ticket Campaign Starts May 22, 2020

Hot Springs AR— As the Memorial Day weekend approaches and the summer vacation season ramps up the Garland County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind motorists to Buckle Up! During the Memorial Day holiday, about 10,000 law enforcement agencies statewide will be out on the roads from May 22nd through June 7th to remind drivers and passengers to buckle their seat belts. The annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign aims at enforcing seat belt use to help keep travelers safe as they drive to their summer destinations.

According to NHTSA, 10,076 people who were killed in passenger vehicle crashes in 2017 weren’t buckled. Fifty-five percent of those fatalities happened at night (6 p.m.–5:59 a.m.). Law enforcement will be taking a no- excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement during the “Click It or Ticket” campaign, writing citations day and night.

Please, help us spread this life-saving message before one more friend or family member is killed as a result of this senseless inaction. Seat belts save lives, and everyone—front seat and back, child and adult—needs to remember to buckle up, every trip, every time!
