Piney Fire Troops responded to the 3800 Block of Mountain Pine Road this morning in reference to a house fire.

When I arrived on scene approximately 20 minutes after the call went out, I saw flames inside a window under the carport.  By the time I parked the car and got out on foot, the flames had been extinguished.  PFD worked hard and fast to save the structure.

What looked to be 2 engines, 2 tankers and about 15 firefighters all worked together to get this thing under control quickly.  Although the residence suffered extensive damage, the structure did not appear to be a total loss.

Piney Fire Chief Scott Miser said that no one was home at the time the fire started.  He also said that the fire started in the kitchen around the stove, but the exact cause has not been determined just yet.

No injuries were reported that I am aware of.
