Hot Springs Police Officer Wes Smith reports the following:
On 07/19/19 at approximately 0233 hours I, Off. Wes Smith, ran an Arkansas license plate which was displayed on a silver Dodge Ram. Dispatch advised that the plate returns to a silver 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 reported stolen out of Garland County Sheriff’s Department. I conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. I made contact with the driver/suspect, Justin Chambers, who was detained.
Dispatch advised that the vehicle was confirmed stolen with a value of $10,000. Upon a search incident to arrest, a bag with white shorts was located in the tool box of the vehicle. Located in the left front pocket of the shorts contained a plastic bag with a crystalline substance.
While at the jail the white crystalline substance field tested positive for the presumptive identification of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine and baggie weighed a total of 1.3 grams.
Mr. Chambers was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Theft By Receiving and Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance with a bond amount totaling $6,000 and a parole hold placed.
