Hot Springs Police Officer Riley investigated an injury motorcycle crash on Malvern Avenue last weekend.
Witnesses at the scene said that all of the vehicles involved in the crash were traveling east when traffic came to a stop due to another vehicle making a turn. According to witnesses I spoke with, all traffic slowed/stopped as necessary. But, the motorcycle did not. The bike struck at least 2 cars before the driver lost control, laid the bike down and was struck by a vehicle.
Arkansas State Troopers were in the area when the crash occurred. They stopped and assisted as necessary.
Hot Springs Fire & Rescue Troops arrived quickly and assisted as needed.
LifeNet dispatched an Ambulance Crew to the scene. The rider of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
A witness I spoke with at the scene said that the motorcycle rider had a small dog zipped up in his jacket at the time of the crash. The dog departed the scene under his own power and, to the best of my knowledge, was not seen again.
Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 1 hour.
