Meth Bust Follows Assault With Sword; Manhunt – GARLAND COUNTY

Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Sergeant Kellar developed information on a situation at a home in the Woodland Shores area where a woman had allegedly been threatened and otherwise assaulted with a sword early Sunday Morning.

As Sgt. Kellar and GCSO Patrol Deputy Green approached the area, they noticed the suspect vehicle pulling out onto Highway 270.  They stopped the vehicle on Highway 270 at Ski Motel Road.  As soon as the white pick-up came to a stop, a suspect identified as Rodney Magby allegedly fled from the truck into the woods on foot carrying a backpack.

The traffic stop immediately turned into a felony (high risk) traffic stop with 1 suspect in the woods and several more deputies on the way.  The first to arrive and assist was Mountain Pine Chief Deputy Marshal Hampton.  He was soon followed by the GCSO K-9 Team of Sandy & Deputy Strickland, GCSO Deputy Morgan and GCSO Patrol Captain Dodd.

Ultimately, 4 people were ordered from the truck 1 at a time at gunpoint.  Once all the remaining suspects were handcuffed and the scene was secure, the deputies searched the truck.  Inside the truck, they allegedly discovered methamphetamine, at least 1 meth pipe, at least 2 syringes and other odd items including about half a gallon of a liquid in a glass jar that had the appearance of iced tea.

Sandy, Dep. Strickland and Dep. Morgan followed the fleeing suspect’s track into the woods and located the backpack that Sgt. Kellar described.  In the backpack, they allegedly found an ID card belonging to Rodney Magby.

The woman that reports being assaulted and threatened with the sword arrived at the scene.  LifeNet was called and she was checked out.

Ernie’s Wrecker Service took charge of the vehicle and removed it from the roadside.

Gregg Eugene Youngblood, 57 of Hot Springs is charged with Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia x2 with a bond amount totaling $5,000; John Harold Fox, 28 of unknown is charged with Possession Of A Controlled Substance and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia x2 with a bond amount totaling $6,000 ; Calvin Lee Stewart, 51 of unknown is charged with Possession Of A Controlled Substance and Failure To Appear with a bond amount totaling $4,500 and Tiffany Michelle Whisenhunt, 20 of unknown is charged with Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia x2 with a bond amount totaling $6,000 and a no bond hold has been placed on her for charges in another jurisdiction.  All of the prisoners were transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.

A warrant will be issued for the arrest of Rodney Magby.  His charges will include Fleeing.

The suspect vehicle had an Arkansas State Police Association sticker proudly displayed on the rear window.
