The Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol began a manhunt Thursday Afternoon on Crystal Hill Road near the Garland County Detention Center. The reason for initial contact with the suspect is unknown to me.
Several Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Units, K-9, Jail, Civil and CID Units along with Hot Springs Police K-9 and the Garland County Department of Emergency Management participated in the search for alleged theft suspect Donny Lee Bovee, 34 of Hot Springs.
Deputies made contact with the suspect at a residence on Crystal Hill Road. The suspect fled on foot into the woods. Hot Springs Police K-9 was among the many units en route to assist with the search.
About 40 minutes into the manhunt, K-9 teams tracked the suspect through the woods towards the highway. Deputies located the suspect and arrested him in the area of the old prop shop (currently a gardening/greenhouse business) on Highway 270 West without incident.
Mr. Bovee was transported to the Garland County Detention Center and charged with Theft Of Property, Fleeing and a parole hold was placed on him.
Due to the immediate drama just outside the fence, Garland County Detention Center Staff put the facility on high alert during the manhunt.
