All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Arkansas State Police Corporal Reed investigated what appears to be a fatal hit & run crash early this morning on Highway 70 West in front of Tri-Lakes Liquor.
This case is still under investigation. So, there are very little facts to report.
What is factual is that a man, identified as Ronnie Fletcher, was killed. The deceased was located in an eastbound traffic lane of Highway 70 West in front of Tri-Lakes Liquor around 3AM today. Next of Kin have been notified. A suspicious vehicle with body damage was reported to have departed the area as emergency responders were arriving on scene. Hot Springs Police located that vehicle a short time later (with the same license plate number that had been reported) at Crawford Drive/Central Ave. However, the damage was not consistent with evidence found at the scene and nothing seemed suspicious about that car or that driver.
Garland County Sheriff’s Patrol Corporal Cannon ordered the highway closed as the State Trooper was being notified. The highway remained blocked off for the duration of the on-scene investigation.
It is probable that the victim was a pedestrian that was struck by at least 1 vehicle.
The Garland County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and conducted their investigation.
Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 2.5 hours.
