Morning Star Fire Chief Nathan Kew reports that MSFD Fire Station #5 on Highway 70 East across from the Rest Area was burglarized sometime last night and the thieves made off with roughly $4,000 worth of firefighting and rescue equipment that his department and future victims will desperately need when the time comes to save a home, a business or a life.

The station was burglarized and the items were stolen right off of the fire truck(s).

Chief Kew says that they will be dealing with their insurance agent Monday with regards to making a claim to replace what was stolen.  The estimated loss is valued at roughly $4,000.

Items taken during the burglary include: chainsaws (brand new Stihl MS251c chainsaw in new case), a Honda Generator, hand tools, electric tools, bolt cutters, tool boxes, extension cords, gas cans, pry bars, flash lights, tarps and more.

Anyone with information that could lead to recovery of the items or the thieves are encouraged to call Garland County Sheriff’s Investigators at 501 622 3660.
