Public Release – Lake Hamilton School District
SCHOOL SAFETY MESSAGE
A Lake Hamilton Junior High student made an inappropriate comment at the end of the school day on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Junior high administrators, as well as the Lake Hamilton School District security team and the on campus Garland County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) School Resource Officer, immediately addressed the situation by contacting the student’s parents and other appropriate personnel. A meeting was scheduled between the student, the student’s parents, GCSO, and Lake Hamilton School District administrators and school security. The meeting took place this morning, Wednesday, February 6, 2019. The student under investigation is not on campus at this time.
Last night, there were several rumors and partial truths circulating through various social media sites. The LHSD assures all students, parents, and community members that there was no credible threat or danger. That being said, each and every instance involving student safety is treated seriously and thoroughly investigated and managed. The district took extra safety precautions last night and this morning by having an increased security presence on campus as the investigation continues.
This investigation is under the authority of the Garland County Sheriff’s Department. As always, the number one priority of the Lake Hamilton School District is the safety of our students and staff.
