Hot Springs Police were dispatched to the 300 Block of North Patterson Street Saturday Evening for the report of a shooting.
HSPD Troops arrived at the house very quickly. They located the shooting victim, deceased inside the residence. They also arrested Levar Leron Strickland, 42, of North Patterson Street who remained on the property following the killing.
Children were allegedly present at the time of the shooting.
Mr. Strickland allegedly told officers at the scene that he accidentally shot the victim with a sawed off shotgun. A search warrant for the crime scene was obtained and officers allegedly located a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun inside the home. The barrel was reportedly cut to less than 12 inches, rendering the gun a prohibited weapon and the gun’s identifying serial number had allegedly been filed off.
Mr. Strickland was transported to the HSPD Detective Bureau for questioning, then transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Murder, Felony Criminal Use Of A Prohibited Weapon, Felony Possession Of Defaced Firearm, Endangering The Welfare Of A Minor x3 and Failure To Appear x2 with a bond amount totaling $1,010,000.
