HSPD SWAT Responds To Hostage Situation On Laser Street; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

Hot Springs Police Detective Branstetter reports the following:

On 07/06/2019 at approximately 1329 hours officers responded to 313 Laser Street in reference to a disturbance with a firearm.  Upon arrival it was learned that the suspect, Andrew Joshua Brown was inside the residence of 313 Laser Street with a firearm and was not allowing his girlfriend to leave.

After communicating with Brown, he released his girlfriend and his mother from inside the residence.  It was then learned that Brown and his girlfriend had been in an argument when Brown pulled out a firearm, pointed at his girlfriend and stated he would kill her.  Brown then barricaded himself and his girlfriend in the room, by placing furniture in front o the door, before he turned the gun and pointed at his head, threatening suicide.

The Hot Springs Police Department activated the SWAT team who responded and set up a perimeter.  After communicating with Brown, the SWAT team deployed CS gas into the residence, eventually causing Brown to exit the residence and be taken into custody at 1558 hours.

Andrew Joshua Brown, 20, of Laser Street in Hot Springs – allegedly barricaded himself, his girlfriend and his mom in a house with a gun.

Mr. Brown was arrested and transported to Garland County Detention Center for Processing. He is charged with Felony Aggravated Assault On A Family Or Household Member and was served several unrelated arrest warrants with a bond amount of at least $2,500.
