All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Central Avenue and Olive Street last week in reference to a robbery.
Officers met with the victim who advised that a suspect came up to him and asked for money. The victim said that he did not have any money, then bought the suspect a cup of coffee and they talked inside a restaurant. The victim agreed to give the suspect a ride. Once inside the vehicle, the suspect allegedly pulled out a folding knife and said that he did not need a ride, he needed money.
The victim drove to an ATM and withdrew $20. He allegedly gave the money to the suspect and they drove back to the Olive Street Intersection where the suspect exited the car.
Officers were able to review video from the restaurant. They were able to identify the suspect as Bobby McGowan, 49, homeless of Hot Springs and swore out a warrant for his arrest.
On January 29, 2019, Mr. McGowan was arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Robbery with no bond available.
