All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Info is sketchy at this point, but this much is known:
Garland County Sheriff’s newly promoted Patrol Corporal Lane attempted to make a traffic stop on a silver Pontiac sedan in the area of Central Avenue near Riser Ford. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed up Files Road and the pursuit was on.
Other GCSO Deputies headed that way to assist. The pursuit quickly turned south on Higdon Ferry Road and headed towards the Lake Hamilton Bridges on Highway 7 South. The high speed pursuit departed Garland County, blasted through Hot Spring County got to the edge of the Arkadelphia City Limits where the Clark County Sheriff’s Patrol, Caddo Valley Police and Arkadelphia Police were sitting, waiting to pounce with spike strips and whatever other assistance may be required.
Suspects inside the fleeing vehicle allegedly threw several items from the vehicle along the parade route.
As the reckless, fleeing suspect vehicle approached the colleges on Highway 7, the officers ahead of the pursuit deployed the spikes. The suspect vehicle hit the spikes, the front tires deflated and the suspect vehicle crossed the centerline and came to a controlled stop on the left hand side of the road at the Rainbow Drive intersection.
An 8 officer, multi-agency, felony traffic stop was conducted. At least 2 people were arrested at the scene. At least 1 of these suspects is believed to be a convicted felon on active parole/probation supervision.
No injuries were reported in connection to this event.
An unsettling amount of random copper was inside the vehicle at the time of the capture. A witness familiar with the case indicated that these suspects were already being looked at with regard to alleged thief activity in Garland County.
