Press Release – HOT SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT (Officer 1st Class Joey Williams)
On Saturday May 28, 2016 at approximately 4:00 p.m. the Hot Springs Police Department was notified of an accident at Central Avenue and Hobson. Once on scene it was determined that a 2010 Chevy Aveo driven by Sharkeetrya Dunwood of Hot Springs was traveling southbound on Central Avenue. Dunwood lost control of her vehicle and struck the Continental Motel, located at 1535 Central Avenue. Upon impact with the Continental Motel, Dunwood’s vehicle spun clockwise and then flipped over. A male pedestrian, identified as Michael Wicker, from Hardy, Arkansas was walking on the sidewalk of the eastside of Central was struck by Dunwood’s vehicle. Mr. Wicker was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

On July 29, 2016, Shakeetrya Lachelle Dunwood of Hot Springs, Arkansas was arrested in connection with this accident. The Hot Springs Police Department received a Report of Laboratory Analysis from the Arkansas Crime Laboratory which showed Dunwood was positive for Cannabinoids at the time of this accident. Dunwood was arrested by Hot Springs Police for negligent homicide. Her bond was set at $5,000.
