Arkansas State Police Trooper Heinley investigated a fatal 2 vehicle crash today around 5PM on Highway 270 West near Jones Mill in Hot Spring County.

Evidence at the scene suggested that the black SUV and the silver car collided at highway speed on the pavement.  Both vehicles came to final rest in traffic lanes.  The engine of the silver car was ejected well clear of the vehicle.

Morning Star Fire & Rescue Troops arrived quickly.  They took charge of traffic control, extricated at least 1 person from the wreckage, set a fire watch, initiated medical care and assisted with clean-up duties and other tasks as required.

LifeNet dispatched at least 1 Ambulance Crew, the EMS Supervisor and 2 EMS helicopters to the scene.  At least 1 person was transported to the hospital by helicopter.

The Hot Spring County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and pronounced at least 1 person deceased.

Both vehicles were disabled and had to be towed from the scene.

Traffic flow was stopped for approximately 1.5 hrs and down to 1 lane for approximately 45 minutes.
