Arkansas State Police Corporal Cartwright investigated a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Highway 70 at Narrows Road around 2:18AM this morning.

In the Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary, Cpl. Cartwright states that a green GMC Pick-Up Truck driven by
John Edward Davidson , 41, of Hot Springs veered across the entire highway, exited the left side of the pavement and struck a large tree stump head-on.

Mr. Davidson was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Saline County Coroner.  NOK has been notified.

An off-duty Benton Firefighter (doing double duty as a Lonsdale Volunteer Fireman in his community) was the first help to arrive.  He was relieved by responding Lonsdale Fire & Rescue Troops.  They arrived quickly and assisted with patient care and took charge of traffic control.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Patrol took charge of scene security and assisted as needed.

I did not make it to the scene in time to see which medical service responded.

Traffic flow was interrupted for at least 2 hours.
