Hot Springs Police Officer Sampson investigated a 3 vehicle, fatal crash involving a motorcycle yesterday afternoon on Malvern Avenue in front of National Park Medical Center.
The Arkansas State Police Preliminary Fatal Crash Report says that the 3 vehicles involved were traveling East. The 1989 GMC truck was stopped in the inside lane waiting to make a left turn onto James Street. While stopped, the 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with the rear of the GMC while attempting to change lanes. The force of the collision threw the rider from the motorcycle and into the path of the 2011 Ford Focus.
National Park Medical Center Staff and bystanders immediately responded to assist.
Hot Springs Fire & Rescue Troops responded quickly and assisted as needed.
LifeNet dispatched an Ambulance Crew and the EMS Supervisor to the scene. They jumped out and tried to go to work, but the injury(s) were such and happened so fast, that help could not be provided.
The Garland County Duty Coroner responded to the scene and pronounced the motorcycle rider, Kenneth R. Bartholomew, 61, of Hot Springs, deceased at the scene.
The weather was clear and the pavement was dry at the time of collision.
Traffic flow was interrupted for at least an hour.
